TAC Symposium at George Mason University
May 20-21, 2005
The goal of the award-winning Technology
across the Curriculum (TAC) Program is to promote the most effective
uses of technology to enhance learning. Through TAC, technology is
being introduced into undergraduate courses so that students extend
their mastery of course material while learning technology skills
and how to use these skills to solve problems. This curriculum helps
prepare students for a lifetime of learning in our increasingly technological
world.
The philosophical underpinnings of Technology across the Curriculum
are rooted in the value of the liberal arts as discussed in the TAC
vision statement. This vision is realized in the specific features
of the TAC Program, which has identified
10 IT goals and funds projects
each year to help achieve them. The success of TAC and its sustainability
depend on a university-wide support structure,
which serves both faculty and students.
TAC has made a significant impact
at George Mason. Highlights features
some of its major accomplishments. The TAC
Calendar includes this year's events and deadlines for funding.
In the Spring of 2006, Technology Across the Curriculum will be featured
in a special issue of inventio.
The call
for articles has been issued with a deadline of December 31, 2005
for submissions.
