Curricular
Goals
To ensure that students use technology throughout their education,
TAC targets development in three directions.
- We support the development of basic-level IT skills in general
education courses. When fully implemented, all our undergraduates
will have a good foundation of shared IT skills.
- We support incorporation of more advanced IT skills in courses
required for the majors. We help departments articulate IT goals
specific to their disciplines and fund development of assignments,
resources, or courses to help achieve them.
- TAC supports a number of other initiatives such as special projects
at the Center for New History and
Media that enrich the environment for learning through technology.
TAC has especially encouraged departments to examine the use of technology
in their curricula as a whole and to develop departmental plans for
technology. The plans will address the basic technology skills which
all students should be expected to master as well as discipline-specific
ones necessary for work in the major. The spread of IT skills through
the curriculum is displayed in a series of IT
skills grids.
