Funded Projects
We invite proposals from CAS faculty for funding from the Technology
Across the Curriculum (TAC) Program. The goal of TAC is to promote
the most effective uses of technology to enhance learning while fostering
information technology skills
among our students. The primary forms of support for funded projects
are faculty stipends and graduate student assistance.
The following initiatives are for spring 2005 workshops supporting
assignments to be implemented in fall 2005 only. Click on the links
for additional information on each project.
- Image
Manipulation Initiative: Proposals to develop assignments
that integrate the use of images in a variety of electronic documents.
Assignments can be for specific courses, multiple sections of a
course, or into several courses in a major.
- EndNote Initiative: Proposals
to integrate personal bibliographic management software into specific
courses, into multiple sections of a course, or into several courses
in a major.
The projects below are to be implemented over 2005-2006:
- Course Development: Proposals
to develop technology-enhanced assignments within specific courses,
new technology-focused courses, or a departmental sequence of courses
to enhance student IT skills appropriate to the course or major.
Preference will be given to courses with multiple sections with
faculty commitment to implement the assignment in all sections OR
to department faculty collaborating to integrate a variety of IT
skills in their major.
- Resource Archive Web Site:
Proposals to create a Web site or redesign an existing site that
makes discipline-specific or scholarly resources available to a
wide audience. The new site would be database-driven, providing
an easy way for users to search for and retrieve relevant information.
Projects in this category will involve a year's worth of work for
the full planning, design, implementation, and testing of the Web
site. We anticipate funding two such projects for the 2005-06 academic
year: one project to begin design work in fall 2005 for completion
in spring/summer 2006, and a second project to begin work in spring
2006 for completion in fall 2006.
Deadlines for Proposal Submissions:
- Monday, March 7, 2005: EndNote and Image Manipulation
Initiatives; proposal acceptance notification on Friday, March 11,
2005.
- Monday, March 28, 2005: Course Development and
Resource Archive Web Site; proposal acceptance notification on Friday,
April 8, 2005.
